Time to move on

When you dread getting out of your bed and drag your feet to the office every morning, it's time to move on.

Melbourne Trip

This is my second time to Melbourne but this time is for work. Took SQ business to Melbourne but was not impressed with the seats on the business class. I wanted to have the fish special on the menu but was told they ran out of the fish. What a disappointment.

It was pretty late by the time we checked in and decided to go out for dinner. We walked along the Yarra River and eventually stopped at this italian restaurant for dinner. I had seafood risotto and the portion is really huge. I just polished off the seafood but not the risotto.

Next morning we were off to my office in Melbourne. It was a pretty short ride to the office. Met up with the people and had a really good discussion. Dinner was organised for us that evening and dinner was wonderful. The steaks that my aussie colleagues ordered were really huge. After dinner, we went to a hotel which has a good view of the city skyline for a drink and that concludes the day.

The next day went on pretty well too. We managed to finish everything around lunch and I had the chance to go to the DFO for a walk and bought some stuff. We met up with another colleague in the evening to visit this new tallest building in Melbourne called the Eureka Tower. http://www.eurekatower.com.au/

It's the tallest residential building as well. I can imagine the prices must be pretty high. There's an observation deck on the 88th floor which you have to pay an entrance fee to go up. There is also this portion called the edge which is a glass cube which slides out from the building and you are like hanging in the air in the glass cube. This needs a separate entrance fee as well. They will take your picture and if you want to purchase the picture, it will cost additional as well.

It's a pretty amazing experience to stand on the glass with nothing beneath you, 88 floors down.

The next day I went to walk around Queen Victoria Market but only covered about 1/4 of the market and I have to get back to the hotel to go to the airport.

The flight back was better. It had the spacebed and was more comfortable.

Hong Kong... Hong Kong

Hubby and I decided to take a short trip to Hong Kong. Our initial plan was to go on a cruise but the travel agent said she can't confirm availability of the cruise for us and if we can't get it then they will refund us the money.

To avoid disappointment, we decided on going to Hong Kong instead and since none of us has been there before, we decided to just sign for it. Our package includes air fare on Cathay Pacific, accomodation and a free pair of Disneyland tickets with a meal each in Disneyland. It also includes a trip to ShenZhen and a half day Hong Kong City tour which we didn't want to use it.

A day before we were to depart for Hong Kong, the travel agent called to say the original flight we were supposed to be on was re-scheduled to 6pm. I was pretty shocked but was glad that we were put on a 2nd flight out for the day which is at 10am.

By the time we reached the airport and then to the hotel, it's already almost 5pm. We walked around the area and reached the Langham Place for dinner. I was told the wanton noodle at this place called Ciji restaurant was not bad and went to try it. It was not too bad except the portion was pretty small. Next to the restaurant was a dessert restaurant and we had dessert after that as well...

We walked further on and we hit the ladies market. It's just a stretch of street which I thought will have more stalls but apparently not. We then went to the Avenue of Stars and walked around. It's about 12am when we finished and we took the MTR back to our hotel.

The next morning, we started the day early as we wanted to get to the disneyland as early as possible to avoid the crowd. We bought breakfast along the way to have it there. The resort was just opening when we went in but we were stopped from bringing any food in so I had to come out and finished the food before we go in again.

The disneyland was pretty small. We went through most rides and took a great deal of pictures with the characters. Queues weren't particularly long. We went through most of rides and shows available. Had lunch at one of restaurants that looked like a fast food joint and we used the meal voucher for lunch else it would have cost us about 120HK dollars for fried chicken and a drink.

The parade was held around 3.30pm and it was scorching hot. Both hubby and I got sunburnt from out in the sun the whole day. The fireworks started at 9pm and everything ended around 9.30pm and then it's back to reality...leaving the magical kingdom.

We started the next day pretty on a lazy mood. We went to a restaurant for dim sum and decided to take the star ferry to the other side to take the tram up to the Peak. We boarded the bus thinking it would take us to the tram station but ended up on the Peak instead. Walked around and took some photos and we took the tram down from the peak. Walked past the garden and to the MTR station where we stopped at Mongkok for dinner at a place called Ji Zi Hao for Che Zai Mian. After dinner, we walked all the way to Temple Street Night Market before calling it a night. The temple street night market is much bigger than the ladies market.

And it's back to Singapore the next day...and guess who we saw on the plane back to SG? We saw our neighbour. She's a stewardess for Cathay Pacific but was not on duty. She's on the flight from Dubai and transit in Hong Kong back to Singapore. Such a coincidence.

Lazy times at my place

Had jeri and leanne over at my place today. Jeri was super punctual, arriving at 1pm as scheduled.

I went to get some fried bee hoon and fried mee, some chicken wings, some indian rojak and made dessert (which tasted horrible but hubby insisted on the strange combination).

It was good to see Iain again. He was so cute...always smiling whenever you talk to him. Love him so much...heee. Isn't he adorable?

It was good to catch up again as it's been quite some time since we last gathered together.

After leanne and company left for their dinner appointment, Jeri and I sat down to watch the videos of Leanne's wedding and it's almost 2 years ago. Hahaha.

Time really past by so quickly. Leanne is already a mother and we are all getting older by the seconds....

Picnic and BBQ

Organised a picnic cum BBQ session with my family today at Pasir Ris Park. The weather is cloudy but the ground is damn wet and muddy.

My niece and nephew were having a great time. There were a lot of tadpoles on the puddles of water on the ground and my bro-in-law scooped 2 of them into a container and my nephew was so intrigued by the tadpoles.

They went cycling with my dad and bro-in-law while we set up the BBQ pit. We started early as the weather doesn't look ver favourable. Towards the end of the BBQ at about 6pm, it started to drizzle and not wanting to take any chance, we quickly finished up all the cooking and then back to my place to eat instead.

As today is also my bro-in-law's birthday, we also had a cake for him. All in all, it was really fun.
