Bonjour Paris

First day in Paris. Stepping out from the train station, we decided to walk to our Hotel. It seemed to be just near to the train station on the map but apparently not so as we walked and walked and realized that it’s so far away. And we were like lugging our luggage along. This picture was taken by someone in London when we are boarding the Eurostar to Paris. Not a well-taken photo though.

Finally reached the hotel after a long walk. The hotel room was really small but thank God, it’s clean and it’s pretty near to the Metro.

After checking in, we went to Galleries Lafayette immediately. Purpose? LV LV here I come…hahaha. I am not exactly a LV fan but got one for myself while getting one for my ex-boss.

Walked around the place a bit and soon it’s dinner time. We decided to go to HRC in paris for dinner.

Breakfast was served at the basement of the hotel, quite a cute place to have breakfast. The staircase was spiral kind and looked quaint. So not wanting to waste any time, we decided to quickly go out and explore the city of love. First stop, Lourve Museum to see the famous Mona Lisa. The place was really huge, don’t think we even covered one fifth of the place when we left. We made a beeline for Mona Lisa and what a crowd. Mona Lisa was being fenced up and was placed behind a glass panel. I had to struggle to get nearer to get a closer look and to get a picture with her.

After the Lourve and next stop is Arch De Triomphe. It’s very windy and it felt really comfortable just sitting there and watching the world go by. It’s in the middle of a huge roundabout so you can really just sit there and enjoyed the breeze.

Next to it is the famous champs elysees. We walked along champs elysees and soaking in the Viva La France atmosphere. From champs elysees, we can see the Eiffel Tower and decided to walk towards it. We walked across a bridge and saw some artists at work.

Finally we reached the Eiffel Tower and we just sat on the grass patch admiring the view. As I was scared of height, we were deciding whether to go right to the top. Finally,we decided to do it as we weren’t sure will we ever be back to Paris in the near future. Did feel a bit scared on the way up to the top so I kept on grabbing my hubby’s hands. The view on top was magnificent and the wind was very strong.

When we left the tower, it was just beginning to light up. And when we are on the Metro, we can see the flashing white light on the tower. We tried to find the Moulin Rouge after that and spent hours walking up and down streets and still can’t find it. Guess that’s the only disappointment we got from this trip.

On our last second day in Paris, we went to a wet market in the morning and there we witnessed a pickpocket. After he was discovered, he acted as if he was helping the woman retrieved her purse. We saw some beautiful white asparagus. Yum.

We left for Notre Dame thereafter and the weather suddenly turned so cold and windy. We popped by the nearby café and I had a hot chocolate and hubby had a coffee.

We spent this 2nd last day in Paris lazing around as we were due to leave for Rome early tomorrow morning.
