London in a snapshot

Spent my last 4 days in London. It was indeed interesting. We reached London on the 9th morning about 7.30am and waited for our transport to the Hotel in the shivering wind but you can sense my excitement. First day of the trip!

After waiting for quite some time for the transport and when we finally got to our hotel, it's about 10am and since it's not the check in time yet and we were so eager to go venture the big city, the kind lady has agreed to let us check into a smoking room but we can opt to change the next day which we didn't. There wasn't any smoke smell anyway.

So we began our adventure, we bought train tickets and took the underground to St. james station where we walked through the park towards buckingham palace. (That's me in St. james park)
We missed the changing of guards but it's really funny the way we stared into the gates of the palace at the guards standing there as if we were looking at some animals behind bars.

We saw some demostration going on opposite the house of parliament, protesting against tony blair for some fuel/oil stuff. And of course, we had to take pictures of us and the bell tower, the house of parliament, westminster abbey and the london eye. You know, must do all the touristy things. Haha.

We continued our adventure by walking and following the roads indicated on the map to get to Trafalgar Square. The weather was so nice, the temperature was at a comfortable 10deg celsius to 15 deg celsius. I thought there were supposed to have a lot of pigeons at trafalgar square but apparently not. When we reached there, another demostration by the old soldiers against Blair again. Do Brits really hate Blair? I must go ask my Brit friend.

I had always thought Tower of London is a tower but apparently i was wrong. It's like an old castle in the middle of city surrounded by modern skyscrapers.
Can you see the space like building co-existing with the tower of london? Another thing is i didn't realise is that the tower bridge in blue in colour.

We took a day trip out of London to Windsor Castle, Stonehenge and Bath the following day which is the 2nd day after Prince Charles's wedding and all the flowers were still there, very tempted to bring some home. Went to the guild hall where they got married as well. The Queen was at Windsor Castle when we were there and there was a military band playing in the garden and changing of guards as well.

We went to Stonehenge...always been amazed at the structure. There were little mountain heaps which were burial grounds around the place. Went to Bath, an ancient roman influenced place, drank spa water which tasted like water from a rusty tap. yucks.

Rushed to St. Paul's Cathedral on our last day in London. Dragged my luggage to the train station and me and hubby took turns to go into the Cathedral as we can't bring our luggage in and we were due to take the Eurostar to Paris.

And guess what? We missed our train to Paris by seconds. We ran all the way in and the train just left. Thank God we managed to get ourselves on the next available train which is about 1.5hrs later. So it's goodbye london and hullo paris.
